Rampage adds Jordan Walden to rebuilding farm system

Late this evening the Rampage announced they have acquired 19 year old pitcher Jordan Walden. At the beginning of last year Walden was chosen as the top high school prospect in the draft, but he fell to the Los Angeles Angels in the 12th round due to a inconsistent senior year.

Walden has the potential of three plus pitches with a mid to upper 90's fastball, a curve ball and a change up.

Currently Walden is attending Grayson County JC in North Texas.

Mark Kotsay and Esteban Loaiza looks to Rampage for new start

The Rampage have signed Mark Kotsay to a 4 year contract where he is expected to be the team's centerfielder. Kotsay is a career .285 hitter, with a .340 on base percentage and .420 slugging percentage. Last year was a slightly below average season for Kotsay, but his defense and left handed bat will be handy while the Rampage rebuild.

Also signing with the Rampage was veteran starting pitcher Esteban Loaiza who signed a 3 year deal. Loaiza is coming of a huge contract with the Cannons and should provide solid leadership to a very young rotation.

Ramage announce signing of Luis Gonzalez

Since new owner Ben Randall took over the reigns of the Red Deer Rampage he has done everything to dump every decent player on the team and load up on prospects. This has given the fans in Red Deer the feeling that they would be in a 10 year development program.

The first move he has made in the opposite direction is the recent signing of free agent Luis Gonzalez. Gonzalez is a 39 year old outfielder who has a career batting average of .284, on base percentage of .352 and slugging percentage of .444. Terms of the deal were not announced. Gonzalez is expected to be the teams left fielder for 2007.
